Behind generous self-fabric ribbon ties lies a concealed button placket to keep everything in order, leading to a gathered drop waist. From these pleats blooms a plentiful skirt, complete as always with hidden but roomy pockets. Balloon sleeves easily compliment the texture and weight of generously draped linen, ending in a gathered stretch cuff for ease and indulgent fullness.

CHARCOAL/FLAX GINGHAM

Pictured here in monochrome charcoal / ecru tones as a softened, more considered alternative to the usual stark contrast of black and white.

Eco Credentials:

Flax is a strong plant best grown in northern Europe. It needs little to no fertilisers, and due to the local climate, little extra water. It doesn’t require many pesticides either, as it can grow in poor quality soil. The Advisory Commission Report to the European Parliament stated that flax cultivation has positive effects on eco-system diversity as it allows for an “environmental pause”. One hectare of flax can retain 3.7 tonnes of CO2. Every part of the plant is used, and what isn’t used to produce linen can be utilised to make linseed oil, paper, cattle feed, or even soap.

Linen is almost naturally organic. It’s completely biodegradable, recyclable, and due to its natural absorbency, requires less dye than cotton. Linen therefore scores high on the ecological chart.

Care Hand or machine wash on gentle setting using cold water. Do not tumble dry. Steam press on medium setting for a crisp finish, or hang dry and wear gently wrinkled for a lived-in look.

Manufacture
This garment will be carefully individually cut and sewn in small batches in our Oakham, Rutland design studio (England).
